2 teens killed, 4 injured in Auburn SUV wreck
News

AUBURN, Calif. - Two teenage girls tragically lost their lives when the SUV in which they were traveling rolled over during a wreck Sunday night.

The girls were identified by the California Highway Patrol as 13-year-old Vivian Connor of Newcastle and 17-year-old Morgan Helman of Carmichael.

According to CHP Officer David Martinez, the crash was about three miles east of Newcastle on Auburn Folsom Road around 7:35 p.m. The driver of a 2002 Chevy Tahoe lost control and hit a guardrail, causing the vehicle to roll.

Connor and Helman, who were not wearing seatbelts, were partially ejected in the crash. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, said Martinez.

Monday, Del Oro High School issued a letter to students confirming Hellman, a Del Oro student, was one of the girls killed in the wreck.

The Del Oro High statement also revealed Madison Bennetts and Amber Connor were passengers in the vehicle.

Amber Connor, Bennetts, the driver of the vehicle and one other passenger suffered minor injuries in the wreck.  All of them were wearing seat belts, said Martinez.

Martinez said the driver, a 17-year-old boy, only had a provisional license and should not have had passengers in his SUV.

No arrests were made and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. Martinez said alcohol was not believed to have been a factor.
