Snapped utility pole closes Hwy 49 in Placerville

PLACERVILLE, CA - An AT&T utility pole that California Highway Patrol officers say "just snapped", led to the complete closure of Highway 49 in Placerville Monday morning.

According to CHP reports, officers responded to reports of a broken pole with power lines down on the highway around 3:23 a.m.

Highway 49 was subsequently closed in both directions from Missouri Flat Rd. and Fowler Rd.

Pacific Gas & Electric crews were called to the scene to remove the pole and power lines from the area.

Highway 49 was expected to remain closed through 10:30 a.m.
