PENRYN, CA - A Live Oak man was killed in a head-on collision near Sierra College Boulevard in Penryn Wednesday morning.
Placer County sheriff's spokeswoman Dena Erwin said the victim was 53-year-old Gabriel Rodriguez.
The California Highway Patrol called to the crash scene just north of English Colony Road around 6:31 a.m.
According to the Officer Dave Martinez, a driver, later identified as 43-year-old Andrey Yushchuk of Lincoln, was behnd the wheel of a beige Nissan Quest on northbound Sierra College when the mini-van crossed over the double yellow lines and crashed head-on into Rodriguez' silver Nissan Quest in the southbound lanes.
The impact sent the silver Nissan Quest spinning and hitting a Chevrolet pick-up head-on, Martinez said. The driver of the pick-up wasn't hurt.
Rodriguez died at the scene.
