SIERRA NEVADA, CA - Inclement weather has made for rough travel  over Interstate 80 in the Sierra since Thursday night.

Traffic on eastbound Interstate 80 was stopped for a time early Friday afternoon when the driver of a Jeep Cherokee lost control of his SUV and struck a man helping a driver put chains on his vehicle at the Laing Road off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Good Samaritan, Joshua Daniel, of Colfax, suffered major head injures and was transported to Roseville Sutter Roseville Hospital.

The CHP says the it was snowing at the time and the Jeep driver was traveling 35 mph. He was not injured.

Officer Tom Andrade said most of the incidents were in the westbound lanes, with the majority of them in the Gold Run area near Truckee.

You can donate here to help cover Daniel's medical expenses.
