One killed in Hwy. 49 crash, truck fire | News
AUBURN, CA - A head-on crash and ensuing vehicle fire on Highway 49 in Auburn claimed the life of one person Friday morning.
Initial California Highway Patrol reports indicated the accident happened around 8:15 a.m. at Lone Star Road at when a flatbed truck and another truck collided head on, sparking a vehicle fire.
A passerby who had a fire extinguisher was able to put the fire out, according to the CHP.
The deceased individual's identity was withheld pending notification of family.
No information was provided on the cause of the accident.
