FORESTHILL, CA (AP) - Lower temperatures and an increase in humidity were a welcome relief to firefighters battling a wildfire that has destroyed one home and forced evacuations from dozens of others in Placer County.
State fire officials said the so-called Robbers Fire was 60 percent contained after burning 2,650 acres. It began last Wednesday.
Despite improved weather conditions and the progress firefighters are making in surrounding the blaze, evacuations remain in place, with homes near the community of Foresthill still threatened.
Twelve firefighters have been injured battling the fire, and about 2,200 personnel are currently on scene.
