Teen accused of sexually assaulting child at Auburn daycare | Crime
AUBURN, CA - A teen was arrested Tuesday afternoon for allegedly sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14 at a day care center.
The 14-year-old boy is accused of committing lewd and lascivious acts and was arrested at Colored Pencils Preschool and Child Care, located at 13335 Luther Road, Placer County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Dena Erwin said.
The boy is related to the preschool owner and lives in the home that is part of the day care center, Erwin said; his name will not be released because of his age.
The center was shut down by the California Department of Social Services after the arrest.
A criminal complaint accuses owner Alma Rosa Arroyo's 14-year old relative of sexually molesting "child number two in June or July," and sexually molesting another child, also in June or July.
The complaint goes on to say Arroyo was made aware of the allegations, but refused to acknowledge their seriousness or report them as she's required to do by law.
Investigators are looking into the possibility of more victims.
The 14-year-old was questioned by detectives and will be booked into Placer County Juvenile Hall, Erwin said.
Parents with childen in the daycare facility reacted with pain and disappointment.
"If she suspected him of foul play with those kids, I mean that's her obligation not only as a mother but as a child care director," said a parent who did not want to be identified, but who fears his own 3 1/2 year old daughter might have been abused.
Other neighbors said they've had concerns that the Arroyo also rented a room in the same building that housed the day care facility.
"Their biggest concern was that they would walk in and it wasn't just children they were seeing, but transient people walking around," neighbor Laura Click said.
The sheriff's office and social services are investigating the case.
