Autopsy of baby found dead in Newcastle provides age | Crime
NEWCASTLE, CA - An autopsy on a baby found on the side of the road determined the age of the infant.
The infant's body was found in a trash bag in area of Green Hills Court, off of Newcastle Road around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Placer County sheriff's spokesperson Dena Erwin said.
The autopsy showed the age of the baby to be "near-term," meaning the infant was born before its due date, but was not pre-mature. Erwin said no other information, including the sex of the baby, will be released because of the ongoing investigation.
"You know, things don't shock me that much," Newcastle resident Sam Curio said. "I don't get shocked so readily, but, uh, it is shocking."
Detective need help finding the mother of the baby.
"If it's a local person we probably will know, but I guess it could be somebody from anywhere," Newcastle resident Walter Morgan said.
