Mark your calendar to attend the 2012 Nevada County Fair this weekend at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in beautiful Grass Valley.
Held under the shade of the tall pine trees in Grass Valley, the Nevada County Fair is the perfect opportunity to enjoy live entertainment, delicious food, carnival rides and games, barns full of animals, and thousands of exhibits – all in a community-friendly environment.
Check out the exotic bird show, try your hand at gold panning, see baby chicks hatch in the embryology display, watch the Fair’s Idol Competition, play a game of BINGO, or win a prize at the Traveling Game Show. There’s so much to see and do!
Enjoy ongoing, live entertainment at one of the outdoor stages. This year features a variety of music – Chicago-style blues, traditional country, smooth jazz, Americana, bluegrass, West Coast jump, and rock and roll. Comedians, a juggler, and dancers will also be featured on the various stages. Don’t miss “America’s Winning Hypnotist,” Michael Mezmer, on stage Thursday through Sunday. A daily schedule of events is available on the Fair’s website.
Long-time crowd pleasing events will soar into the Fair’s arena Wednesday through Sunday evening. There’s Battle of the Bands on Wednesday, a Rodeo on Thursday, the Professional Bull Riding on Friday, Tough Truck Racing and Monster Trucks on Saturday, and a Demolition Derby on Sunday. Arena event tickets are on sale now.
For more fun, enter one of the special contests held daily in the Special Events tent. There’s a Lego Building Contest, a Cell Phone Photo Contest, a Scrapbook Page Layout Contest, “Minute to Win It” fun, or a Text Messaging Contest. Or, stop by and sample a treat from one of the daily food contests. Details for special contests are available on the Fair’s website.
Don’t miss the Ag Mechanics Auction on Friday of the Fair, and the Junior Livestock Auction on Sunday, August 12.
A visit to the Fair wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Treat Street. It is here that you’ll find an array of delicious foods and drinks – pasties, tacos, corn on the cob, beer, tempura zucchini, baked potatoes, nachos, hamburgers, caramel corn, and more.
